Working with the plants is always different, there’s no real repetition for me, just new lessons or old ones with new angles and perspectives. The revelatory and astounding experiences to be had with Ayahuasca and Huachuma are well documented the world over. It’s not something I need to keep talking about and yes, the ceremonies can be difficult and challenging as much as they’re ecstatic and blissful.
What really hits hard are the days and weeks following a ceremony, as you deal with the afterglow of one of the most profound experiences of your life. It’s a free will realm and one in which we’re here to learn, face challenges, make choices. And after some time with the plants, as if in tandem with the ebb and flow of the universe, the lessons learnt are tested again and again. To make sure they’ve gone in. To make sure they’re understood throughout your whole being.
As a shaman who holds the space, heals within the space and then helps people to understand the lessons, I often find myself questioning and encouraging people to delve further into their truth. The further they go the further I go. If I encourage someone to go into their darkness, the plants will make me sit alone with mine. If I encourage people to let go, the plants will load me with a monumental burden to deal with and let go of. If the love begins to flow then I feel it in every strand of DNA.
Whatever is learnt in the space will be put to the sword in the classroom of life, of that you can be certain. Yet you’re not alone, once you imbibe with the plants they’re with you for life. Their guiding voice never leaves, if you have the ears to listen for them.
Finding the eternal wellspring of love within you during a ceremony will only serve you if you can take it with you. It’s not in the safety of the space you’re required to shine most, it’s in the waves of life where you face the pain and suffering of others. Others that would unconsciously pull you into their own pain and suffering.
Some will want to take their new awakened state and impose it on the rest of the world. It’s all energy, but be wary of imposing your will on others. As I say above, it’s a free will zone and people will do, change, move, act when they’re ready. It’s counter productive to force someone into waking up, particularly if they’re not ready. Have you ever tried to wake a sleeping person that’s not ready to get up yet? Are they happy with you for waking them up?
Same goes here. It’s much more comfortable to stay unconscious and keep away from the truths of existence, the lies you tell yourself to stay on an even keel. With the bliss comes the pain in this plane of duality, the more you go into the light, the bigger a shadow you cast.
Gaining awareness is not a selective process, you become aware of everything. The deep love that goes in tandem with the deepest of pains. Not just in you but in all things. The process is at a greater depth of living, one that not everyone is ready for. If you made the choice to go deeper into life, then let your actions and choices speak for you. Allow your being to be the story that people will see and hear.
They say misery loves company, and those in pain would much prefer it if you were in pain alongside them. It’s all energy and energy seeks to grow and convert. Your happiness and love can make people feel uncomfortable about the opposite and opposing energy they carry within themselves. It’s a meeting of conflicting energy and one will eventually become the other.
It all comes down to awareness of these energies within yourself and others. When you’re aware you can make choices based on your own free will. Which is why we’re here. Freewill.
So go out in the world, and be you, whoever it is you are. You'll fail, and that's OK, when you think you've got it all figured out you'll be shown you don't. Go again.
Above all, be kind to yourself, as if by magic you'll in turn be kind to others.
